Modified Dexcom G5 Android App With US Support

My brother and I have spent the last few weeks modifying the German version of the Dexcom G5 Mobile app. I've since purchased transmitters & sensors and we have each been using the modified version of the app for 2 weeks. We wanted to share our work here and let others try it as well.

There are two versions that I am going to share today:

US Stable Version

Modifications:

  • Change the units from mmol/l to mg/dl

  • Disable device compatibility check. This allows any phone to be able to run the app, though there is likely a minimum android version. Be cautious using any phone not supported officially by Dexcom. We have been using an HTC 10 and Nexus 5x without problems.

  • Change the authentication/login/share servers to the US system. You should be able to use your existing Dexcom US account in this app and your data will also be available on the US clarity site clarity.dexcom.com

  • Allow screenshots of the app

  • Remove transmitter compatibility check We undid this modification when our transmitters passed the check. Let us know if you have a G5 transmitter and you get a transmitter not compatible error, we can redo the bypass.

US Experimental Version

Modifications:

  • All changes from the stable version

  • Shorten Vibration length from 1.5 seconds to 1 second

  • Disable sensor expiration. This is not confirmed to work and has not been tested. It may not even be possible to disable with just app changes as the transmitter may stop itself after 7 days passes until a new warmup starts. This will also delay the expiration notifications to 4 weeks instead of 1. However, if the changes work, the sensors won't ever expire.

  • Disable transmitter end of life. This is not confirmed to work and has not been tested. It may not even be possible to disable completely with just app changes as the transmitter may stop itself at its programmed end of life.

Please try it out and let us know if it works for you.

Also if anyone has a close to expiring sensor or transmitter and would be willing to try the experimental version, let us know what happens.

Try at YOUR OWN RISK. We take no responsibility for any damage caused from using the modified app.
