Disclosing Diabetes as a Bonus Qualification For a Job

I am considering applying for a position at a company that is very significantly and directly involved with diabetes management (i.e their core business is involved with some combination of pumps, pens, insulin, CGM's, insulin alternatives, the associated software etc.).

I'm qualified for the job, but am transferring from a different (non-diabetes-related) field. I am also diabetic.

I am considering being very upfront about my diabetes in the application process in the resume or cover letter. My goal would be to demonstrate that, while my technical competencies are a good match for the job, I also am intimately familiar with their products and diabetes in general, the subject matter of the job.

Is this a bad idea?
