TL;DR to make things easier:
I am going to see a doctor. I have an appointment for a regular blood glucose check on Wednesday and another for deeper blood work on May 2nd.
My symptoms include: frequent urination, urge to pee (running to the bathroom once), dry throat (like cotton in back of throat), have woken up sweating a couple of times. Today: feeling lightheaded and hands shaking.
I took my first reading ever within 2 hours after a meal. Reading was 112. Everywhere I look says that's normal for after a meal, but the meal I had was 5g carbs?
I've been bingeing on sugar lately, especially within the last week. Huge factor in reading?
Hi, everyone. I'm scared as fuck & anxious as hell right now, so please excuse any typos.
Basically: I've been showing some diabetes symptoms since last Wednesday at least, when I woke up with a scratchy throat. The scratchy feeling comes and goes still, but has been on for at least two days. I thought it might have been due to spraying my house with essential oils (for pest control), so I overlooked it.
Last Saturday, I had (protected) sex with someone and didn't pee immediately after. On Sunday of last week and since, I have had frequent urination with some urgency to pee (on Tuesday, I practically ran to the restroom during a very important work thing.) Urgency hasn't been back since then, but I'm still peeing rather frequently, and yesterday night was the first night I woke up twice to pee. I chalked it up to a UTI, but when I went to the doctor, she said she couldn't see anything in my urine indicating a UTI. I asked her if the frequent urination could be due to diabetes, and she said probably not, since you'd have to wake up a lot during the night for that to be a factor.
I also woke up in the morning twice last week sweating. So there's that.
Another thing: I've fallen hard of the keto bandwagon, and have been bingeing on and off for the past two weeks, with the past week being the worst. I'm not proud of it. Eating out every night, lots of processed sugars. Usually my body handles it well, but I don't know. Last night I had an entire tub of Talenti (I KNOW, I KNOW, NEVER AGAIN.) So the high reading may be due to my body processing it (I'm only guessing, I don't know.)
Today, I woke up fine, but when I got to work, I was feeling lightheaded and shaky. Still feeling that way. Water feels like it flows right through me; when I drink, I immediately feel like I have to pee, even though very little is coming out. I hadn't eaten breakfast, so I had a small snack of turkey & cheese cubes with almonds.
The feeling didn't go away, so I went straight to Walmart and bought a blood glucose testing kit. Results came back 112. I read around and all resources say that's normal after a meal if you test within 2 hours, but this was a small meal (5g of carbs.) So I don't know anymore.
I made an appointment for a simple blood glucose test this Wednesday. I made another for deeper blood work (gonna request A1c levels) for May 2nd.
But until then, I’m SOL with managing my anxiety and fear. Could I have diabetes or just maintaining high blood sugar levels during my binge? Is that a normal reading after a small meal? I don’t know what to do and am freaking out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
