I am thinking about looking for a new ophthalmologist. I have been seeing the same guy for about 14 years. (T1 23 yrs) I have never had retinal imaging done. Didn't realize it was common until several non-diabetic relatives mentioned they get them every year at their check ups. My last visit, the doc said something about a small amount of a bleed, but that he isn't worried, I shouldn't worry and he will see me in a year. Also I have developed several dark spots in and around my iris. He didn't mention it so I figured it is normal. I read up on it and it seems like he should have taken a picture just to make sure they dont grow quickly. Just wondering if retinal imaging is standard practice or if I am being paranoid. Thanks!
