Full disclosure, basically my biggest fear since I was a kid was having to ever get a shot in the eye. Like, I work around healthcare for a living, I've been T1 for 30 years so obviously I have some amount of comfort with needles. But in the eye? Nope. noooope. F-ing no.
Well after 3 treatments of PRP/laser surgery to fix retinopathy, things are still progressing a bit and the next treatment is usually an injection of drugs...right in the eye.
Anyone have experience with this? Looking online it looks like they clip the eyelid so you don't blink, and apply a local anesthetic. Honestly I would prefer they knock me the hell out, but I doubt insurance would pay for general anesthetic since it isn't "medically necessary". I had a lot of pain/discomfort with the laser, and I can only imagine what an actual injection would be like. I just...really don't deal well with eye stuff. I got the wrong damn disease/complication :P
