Hi Everyone, I have my preconception appointment tomorrow. I have no idea what to expect and was hoping you could shed some light. I feel pretty overwhelmed about the whole thing, so I want to make a list of questions to ask to make sure I cover everything, so I would love to hear some suggestions.
Background on me: 33yo, T1 since age 9, last A1c was 6.1 Background on the doctor: it's a specialized department for high risk pregnancies at a large university hospital, and my doctor will be the director of the T1 group. The delivery will be at a brand new (1 year old) hospital that is all state of the art and made specifically for this group. My endo has T1 and she had both of her kids with this group and raved about them. So I feel like I will be in great hands (still very anxious though)!
Questions I have so far:
-
Do I have to stop taking metformin or any other medications?
-
I don't want a pump... will they be okay with that (I do have and love my dexcom CGM).
-
what lifestyle changes should I expect (diet, etc) during the pregnancy?
-
what can I do now, besides maintain good control?
-
what are the frequency of appointments and how are they billed (so I can try and figure out the rough cost to increase my FSA for 2018).
