Hey everyone, I just have a couple questions and could really use some support

Hey everyone. This is my first time in this sub, and I came here because I need advice. I just got off the phone with my wife and her blood test results came back. She's been diagnosed as diabetic (she wasn't able to give any specifics, she's at work and didn't really have time to tell me). She meets with her doctor on Friday to go over everything and start making whatever adjustments she needs to. And I'm sitting here in tears, not just because she's been diagnosed, but because she's the love of my life and I'm so afraid of something happening. I want to be as supportive as I can be and I'm just afraid that something will happen, ya know. Neither of us are in great physical shape, and diabetes is hereditary in both of our families. I've been tested a bunch but never diagnosed.

I know we're going to face a lot of changes in the near future that will affect the rest of our lives. What can we do to start adjusting our health habits? How can I be more supportive? What do I need to know to better help her? What can I do too feel less helpless?

I really appreciate any help or advice. Things happen so quickly sometimes.
