I tested my level with my friends Contour meter. He's got Type 1 and I've been feeling off for a few weeks so he suggested it. Doctor appointment is next week, just wanted to see what was going on.
Reading on my left hand was 111(mg/dL?), reading on my right hand was 106. So pre-diabetes?
About me. Male, 27, 5'11 166 pounds, 35 inch waist, doesn't drink regular soda only diet, maybe eats too many carbs, walks 2-3 miles a day.
My questions:
Why would the readings be so different on different hands?
I had fasted before the test (I should say not on purpose, I was sleeping and had no breakfast), hadn't eaten in 12 hours, but I drank a lot of water about 4 hours prior to it, maybe 60 ounces give or take. Part of the feeling off was being really thirsty. Though I'm not currently thirsty. Would that skew the result?
I also had to walk about a .6 of a mile to get to the test, over the course of 40 minutes. Would that skew the results?
Could my results be significantly higher, but were masked by the water intake and walking?
Thank you, and sorry if these are silly questions.
EDIT: Went over to Walmart, picked up a Contour Next. Tested again 3 hours later, still hadn't eaten anything, but my left hand was 70, right hand was 79.
Ate a little over an hour ago, tested again, 95 and 101. I honestly think I was super stressed out before I tested the first time.
Two hours later, 75 and 76. So. No idea.
