Looks like my husband has type 2 diabetes.... :(

A week ago my husband (45) went in for some routine blood work/annual physical and his fasting blood glucose was high - 145, so they ran an HbA1C which came back at 6.8% He has an appointment with his doctor on Thursday to discuss where to go from here.

He already eats a low-carb diet (typically <30g carbs/day) and has been for the past 6 months, but has the occasional "cheat meal" or dessert every so often, so that's going to have to stop.

He's overweight, but has dropped 40lbs over the past 6mo as well, so he's on the right track there (he has about 40 more to go). He could also stand to add some more exercise. In the last year he's gone from a job that kept him walking around for hours a day to working from home behind a desk.

On the one hand, this sucks. We're bummed, and it feels really unfair that this is happening now, 6mo after finally making the lifestyle changes that are supposed to prevent stuff like this.

On the other hand, it feels like we've at least already got a good start on managing it and we're in a good position to keep this under control.

We're just kind of emotionally/mentally in limbo waiting to talk to the doctor on Thursday.
