I ordered food via Appetise tonight. I chose a restaurant I haven't ordered from before and ordered my food. I got an email saying my order had been accepted and would arrive at 7. I injected my insulin so that I could eat my food when it arrived. I then got a phone call from a very lovely and helpful lady at Appetise who said that the restaurant were refusing to deliver my food because they didn't think they were signed up with Appetise. I explained that I am diabetic and had already injected and the lovely lady was immediately concerned and said she would phone the restaurant back and get them to deliver my food. She did so and phoned me back to say they had accepted. I thanked her and happily waited for my food. At around 7 I got a phone call from the restaurant itself saying they still weren't going to deliver my food. I explained the problem again and told her that this was causing me medical issues. She continued to refuse to fulfil my order and told me to order from another restaurant. This continued even after I explained that it was too late and my blood sugar would crash before the food arrived. She told me Appetise is a fake company (which it clearly isnt because I've used them before). I've now made myself some food but have had to have 5 or 6 glucotabs because I'm hypo. I am really angry at the restaurant, is there anything I can do? Talking to them hasn't helped and I'm worried this could happen to other people. I'd also quite like a proper apology! Is there someone who deals with this kind of thing. Has the restaurant broken any laws or anything? NB: The lady from Appetise was extremely apologetic and is organising compensation so I don't blame her or Appetise although I do think maybe they could improve there system to help avoid problems like this.
