T2? Started insulin, now what?

In the 10 months since I was diagnosed with "probable T2", I've managed to get my A1c from 10.3 to 5.9 via lazy keto, 1000 mg Metformin and 50 mg glipizide daily. The amount of time where my BG levels are over 140 is still bothering me, and I decided to buy OTC insulin and see if I could achieve better control, especially to combat the morning highs from my shitty Dawn Phenomenon. I'm being cautious and starting slowly, but it seems to be working, especially with mealtime control. I actually ate around 50g carbs after taking 3 units of Novalin R today, and tested around 100 afterwards. I'm taking 5 units of Novalin N in the morning and at bedtime also.

I plan to keep tweaking the dosages and test frequently until I'm satisfied with the numbers. I see my endo in a couple of weeks, so I'm wondering if there's anything I should discuss at that time? If I'm responding well to low doses of insulin, does that change my diagnosis of "T2"? I'm not planning to go crazy eating carbs, but if insulin helps me, is it terrible for my health to increase the dose so I could eat some regular meals sometimes? Should I press my doctor to order more tests to narrow down my diagnosis? I'm a 55 year old female with a BMI around 20 if that helps. I'm not exercising at the moment, but am planning to start adding in more walking to my routine when life settles down a bit. Trying to get stress levels down also.

Thanks for any guideance or insight. I feel like my doctors just read from a script and aren't seeing the whole picture outside of the A1c numbers. Seeing my BG over 140 every morning and for hours after meals, even when I'm eating extremely low carb, is not only concerning, it's just really frustrating.
