I have a very odd case of diabetes (T1), after 5 months of using insulin my doctor recently gave me Januvia pills prescription.

I am 18, I now weight 56kgs after losing 4 kgs and I am 5'9. I was diagnosed back in February, and I had started taking Humalog and Lantus. My doctor gave me a slider scale, with minimum dosage. On my worst days I required 10 units of humalog.

My blood sugar levels were under control for most part but I had been getting lows quite often, (maybe once or twice in 3 weeks). Once by BG was 188, so i injected 3 units of humalog and had a plate of white rice with chicken, and a couple of chocolate pastries. I walked back to my home (about 1 km ) and after an hour my BG was 65, i was shaking sweating vigorously and i had to eat around 20 spoons of chocolate powder, milk , 5 dates and some other sweets to bring it up to 200/210.

I wanted to visit the doctor then but i couldnt because I was travelling for my vacations, while on my vacation i was walking so much that I didnt need Lantus at all, and at times i would eat without humalog and my readings would just be fine. However by the end my readings got worse. Note that I wasn't using Lantus at all.

I came back and got myself checked. Since I keep getting high and lows all the time, he wants to try this tablet which is usually given to T2 patients, called Januvia, I read some things on the official site of the tablet which has me concerned after reading some side effects which includes Dialysis. I am concerned if I should start taking the tablet or not. Any help will be appreciated.
