Hi All! Just a bit of background: I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy, when trying to conceive again I was diagnosed with PCOS and Insulin Resistance and put on 3x500 extended release metformin to help me get pregnant (I had to do use other methods eventually, but that's another story). For this pregnancy I've stayed on the metformin for the entire time, so I got to skip the glucose test and they're treating me like I have gestational diabetes.
Anyway, before going on metformin my A1C was 5.3. Before I got pregnant I managed to lose close to 30lbs using a low carb diet and some exercise. Since becoming my pregnant my A1Cs have been 4.9 (7 weeks gestation) and 4.6 (27 weeks gestation). Is it possible that the metformin is working better the longer I'm on it? Or maybe my lowering A1Cs are diet and weight related?
Just curious. I can't seem to find a solid answer using Dr. Google. I will be finding an endo when I'm done being pregnant to help manage my IR. The doctor that put me on the metformin is a reproductive endo and probably won't see me because I think we're done with kids after this.
