I am really struggling with my manager and don't know what to do.
I called out sick on Monday because ketones and all that fun stuff. On Tuesday, I was fine and returned to work. I was in the zone and focused on a project when my manager barged in and put more things on my plate. I responded by saying "ok." He asked if I was feeling alright and I said "yes." He left my office and that was that.
Today, he pulled me aside to discuss the attitude of employees we oversee. He expressed frustration with their "bad attitudes" and said he was going to start replacing people who could not be positive. When I tried to explain the employee's "attitude" are a reaction to a history of issues he turned the tables on me.
"I really can't have you coming in here when you're blood sugars are bad. They effect your mood and I don't need that here." He also felt the need to inform me that my overall physical health is poor. He was visibly agitated.
I told him I did not feel comfortable with his comments, and since he is not a doctor he is not qualified to make a judgement about my health.
His response?
"Why not? You've made it general knowledge. I don't see an issue with this."
I said "ok" as to avoid further confrontation.
Is he allowed to speak like this? Should I report this to HR? I feel like he will force me to go home (without pay) if he thinks my blood sugars are "bad".
Can anyone help me navigate my next steps?
