Medtronic has finally jumped the shark for me. I was excited to get the my new 670G because of it's automatic basal adjustment features. However what I have received is a pump with a mind numbingly stupid interface.
My previous Medtronic pump has been awesome. But this new pump utterly drives me nuts. The UI requires you to jump through multiple menus to do the most trivial things. Want to use the bolus wizard? 14 clicks in the menu. Want to refill the reservoir? 22 clicks. Want to visually inspect the reservoir to see how much insulin you have left? HA! You can't! The case is completely opaque. You must 100% rely on the sketchy drawn tiny bottle of insulin icon on the screen.
And my new favorite. Less than 4 days after receiving it and getting it up and running - I broke the belt clip off. The weak flimsy belt clip that is integrated in the body of the pump. So guess what? I now have a bright shiny brand new CRACKED insulin pump.
These devices need to be utility. They need to be simple and intuitive to use. Not a fucking smartphone that does everything through animated screens and Yes/No prompts. I hate this trend and am now asking Medtronic to tell me what my options are to send it back.
