My supervisor at work sits at the desk next to mine. A few weeks ago, my Dexcom app alerted me that I had high blood sugar with the very loud beeping alarm. My supervisor turned to me and asked what that alarm was, and I told her it was my app telling me that my blood sugar was high.
Ever since then, every time my Dexcom alert goes off, she feels the need to say something like "Uh oh, you’re being bad again!" or "You better take care of yourself" or "You shouldn't be letting that happen!". It's always in a joking tone, but it really gets to me. It's frustrating when people think it's just that simple.
This even happens in situations with my friends or family and I begin to feel embarrassed when my alarm goes off.
Sometimes I just get tired of people not understanding that diabetes isn’t easy and that it takes constant concentration to stay in target.
Anyone experience the same thing?
