I've been dealing with a case of reactive hypoglycemia that's so bad that even my bariatric surgeon raises his eyebrows and says "wow" when he sees the rates of rise and fall I have, and I've been doing a lot of research into trying to figure out why. Today I ran into someone mentioning "MODY" diabetes and that it's a gene type of diabetes. I did a 23andme about 5 years ago, and looked up the genes related to the different types of MODY and it *looks* like I'm heterogeneous for quite a few of the different genes. What I'm struggling to find is if being heterogeneous for multiple genes could possibly be why I'm fighting reactive hypoglycemia. (Like am I possibly dealing with the earliest stages of diabetes at this point? I have a CGM and I do wake up to a fasting blood sugar of 100-105 on a daily basis.)
That said, I am not that young (38) and my major problem is hypoglycemia and my A1C is 5.0%. (But that's very likely due to the fact that I spend 7-10% of my day under 70.)
The genes that I have are HNF1A, HNF1B, GCK, and HNF4A. I'm heterogeneous for all of them.
Thanks for any insight. :)
