Low Potassium and Tachycardia

I have a few days to wait to hear back from an endocrinologist. My PCOS has taken a sudden turn for the worse after not being treated for a long time, and I fear has turned into type 2 diabetes. My glucose has been too high for a while but until I could get better insurance my (old) doctor wouldn't do any tests or treatment. Anyway...

The last week or so I have been having tachycardia from low potassium. Taking the prescription strength supplement will stop the PVCs for about thirty minutes and then they return. Along with the heart palpitations I am getting all the typical low potassium problems like muscle cramps, but it was diagnosed low with a blood test, too.

I read high insulin can cause potassium to go into the cells and cause problems, but this is more typical for diabetics being treated with insulin.

Can the onset of type 2 cause this situation as well? I have not been able to find good info about it anywhere.
