I have had Type 1 Diabetes for several years now and generally have no problem with it. The range of my carb intake per meal is 35-50 and my blood sugar level seldom goes over 200. However recently, after I’ve stopped living with my parents, I’ve received frequent text messages and phone calls regarding the high or low blood sugar notifications they receive thru their Dexcom apps. Most recently for example, my cgm was showing an extreme low level (55) whereas it was 120 when I measured. After I calibrated, it started shooting up to 180 in a matter of minutes which too turned out to be completely false but wouldn’t budge from its trajectory no matter how much I calibrated. It was 1:00 at night so I decided to fall asleep and deal with it later. However I awoke to find my father had called me five times in the early morning and had been sending me dozens of nervous and angry text messages. Is this something you just get used to? How do you suggest dealing with people miles away monitoring your blood sugar without an understanding of the context? I think my control of my blood sugar is very good, but my parents are extremely insistent on being able to see it.
