How did you find out you had diabetes?

I was diagnosed with type 1 in 2013 (age 13); after being bed ridden for a few weeks.

I was sleeping for 15+ hours a day and refusing to drink water because of its horrible taste (due to VERY high blood glucose).

Finally i was taken to the hospital after I’d lost so much weight you could see my ribs.

Now fully recovered and well controlled (overall).

I’m just wondering how everyone else found out they had it.
