Insulin resistance in type 1

Since as type 1s we know exactly how much insulin we're using, is there any way to tell (based on weight, gender, etc) if we're requiring "too much" (i.e. becoming insulin resistant)? Is there a certain range of I:C ratios that are considered normal? I have a lot of people in my family with type 2, so I probably have some genes for insulin resistance and want to keep an eye on it.
