Omnipod>Medtronic

Hey All,

So after using Omnipod for a while now (after being on Medtronic for a year), I have to say I LOVE IT! I was really frustrated at first because I was having issues, but I got them taken care of and I love it!

Downfalls of Omnipod:

Summer time = sweating and pump doesn't stick / falls off if you don't have on correctly

I go through more pods

I have to change pod at 20 units left, so I don't get the full use of insulin

Usually get 1/1.5 days on pod

If you forget your meter, you're fucked

Downfalls of Metronic:

Way more expensive

Tubing and it always got caught on something

Sensor never worked

Reps never call back / 800 customer service sucks

Always delayed in delivery (must have a signer to receive packages)

I always had bruising after using it

If you lose/break any of the products, you can't insert the tubing correctly

Needle always bent and screwed up my insulin delivery

Whenever I would "deliver" insulin to me, it burned

Loud/annoying alarms you can't turn off

Says its waterproof, but it's not. I had to replace my pump 4xs in less than a year

Positives on Omnipod:

WAY cheaper

Loved 800 customer service

Worked with my doctor and express scrips where I pay NOTHING for my pods!!

You don't need a signer because it comes in the mail USPS

My diabetes is almost perfect, my A1C was 6 and sugars are normally around 100

My trainer always picks up the phone/texts asap

NO WIRES, I totally forget I'm wearing it half the time

Battery lasts for a month plus

Meter automatically sends insulin to pod

Way easier to play sports

Waterproof

Positives for Medtronic:
I usually got 2.5 days out of the tube

You can take out the "leftover" insulin, usually got 20+ extra units

Reusable (I don't recommend it but if you need to you can)

I truly was weary of Omnipod at first but after using it a while, I really enjoy it and I don't think I'll ever switch back. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be more than merry to answer them for you!
