Hey guys, I am trying to figure this out and thought maybe some of you have had similar situations. And I know this is a question for my endo, but he's really hard to get ahold of and I need to make appointments a year out (I'm working on getting a new one). I was dx'd type 1 little over three years ago and went through about a year long honeymoon where I was taking 15 units of Lantus and had about a 1:10 Humolog ratio. It all seemed to change in a day and I went up to 21 Lantus and 1:5. Great, I thought, Honeymoon was over and my normal wasn't bad. I stayed around those ratios for about two years, until the last two months. In the past two months I've had to increase my Lantus a unit or two every few days to keep steady and been taking more and more Humolog. As I sit here, I took 40 units of Lantus last night and my Humolog ratio is basically 1:1 and I am still not steady. Through out the three years my activity level and diet has stayed almost exactly the same.
So I am wondering, is this the true end of the honeymoon? Is this normal at all? Will it eventually bottom out or is something wrong here? I appreciate any input.
