I’m not sure if I should be posting this question here but I need some advice. My dad (66 years old) has diabetes and has had diabetes for quite a long amount of time. He hasn’t ever really cared about it and just eaten whatever he liked I.e chips, fried chicken, fried eggs etc. He doesn’t do exercise often on top of that and it feels like whenever I talk to him about it, he just seems to say okay and brush it off the next day as if I had never said it.
His condition is pretty bad, he is obese, has trouble walking, has arthritis, liver failure etc. the list goes on and next month he will be undergoing a vascular surgery. I know I should be of more help, but it’s not like I can force him to go on with a diet or routine, am I making excuses for myself. I don’t think what to do. He believes that a long as he has medicine he will eventually be healed and thinks that my mum and I are just nagging him.
I feel like I’m watching him slowly die and live out his last years. I need some advice, what can I do for him, how can I help him monitor his condition.
