hey there i don’t know if this is the right place for this question, but i currently work at a coffee shop that is still open during this pandemic. our state has restricted restaurants to take-out only, so in conjunction with that we’ve closed our bathrooms to the public and also put up signs saying that our bathrooms are closed. it’s to (1) prevent people loitering in our store which could get us in trouble and (2) reduce spread of the virus as only employees use the bathrooms now and wipe down everything after use
a woman came in today, order a drink and left. she came back about thirty minutes later with i’m assuming her dad, and she was asking to use the bathroom. i did the normal statement of oh sorry our bathrooms are closed because of the virus and dining restrictions, but the grocery store across the parking lot will let you use the bathrooms.
her dad got very serious and walked close to me and said “she has diabetes! she needs to use your restroom!” and i again said “hey sorry again they’re closed because of dining restrictions and stopping the spread of the virus. we have signs. again, the grocery store across the parking lot will let you use their bathroom.”
and they left. don’t know what they did after. i am not a diabetic, have no clue why someone would need to use the restroom just because they’re diabetic, and i would like to be a little educated. i don’t know if i should’ve made an exception or not but again don’t understand the full scope of stuff. if someone could explain and give their POV that’d be helpful.
