New: glucometer for hypoglycemia

Hi there!

I do not have diabetes, but have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia which may be due to one of my rheumatoid arthritis drugs (Plaquenil). When symptomatic, they've tested me at 1.3-2.6, and want me to begin testing regularly at home to both find a trend and make sure I don't get severely low.

I have a prescription for a monitor, strips, and lancets, but I'm unsure what might be best to get since it's unlikely to be a very long term thing - but I need to test a lot during the day to find the trends to see if it's the drug or something else. Any suggestions? I'm in Canada if that makes any difference, and while I do have a great drug plan I'm unsure of I will get coverage without a diabetes diagnosis. Interestingly, I do have Celiac so I get my A1C done yearly as a diabetes screen.
