Hey all,
I’ve been on pump therapy for 10 months now, prior to that I was on pen therapy for nearly 13 years. Everything had been really great for about 9 months, the insertion spots were really great and was only having insulin flow blockages about once a month. But in the last month I’ve only been able to have 3 successful insertions, and have been reverting back to pen therapy. I have a minimed 670G and use sureT inserts. I have been using my abdomen and love handles as insertion spots of my body as they’re the safest spots to use when I’m at work. My girlfriend is also kind of getting on my case about not using it lately and keeps pestering me if it’s even worth it. In my eyes it is but it’s just hard to explain why it is as I loose my cool most times the pump alerts me that the insulin flow is blocked, as I have previously tried 7 times in one day to get it to stick with no luck. Does anyone please have any suggestions on how to do insertions better (I do shave my abdomen) and how can I talk to my girlfriend without getting defensive with my diabetes and not always using the pump. I do understand she really cares about me and wants to make sure I’m okay, but sometimes it feels like she’s overbearing with my diabetes.
