Newly Diagnosed and Feeling a Little Overwhelmed/Lonley

Hi all. So, I was just recently diagnosed with Diabetes this past Wednesday. My A1C was 6.9. I have been on Metformin since Friday evening and also checking blood sugar a couple times a day to get a better understanding of how my blood sugar fluctuates throughout the day. I do have an appointment with a Diabetes Educator coming up this week so can't wait for that. But until then, I am kind of clueless about this disease and Im hoping I can read your experiences from the time you were diagnosed up until now.

Some things Im interested in knowing are:

  • What can I expect at my Diabetes Educator appointment this week?
  • What kind of diet works best to manage Diabetes and also with Metformin?
  • What does it mean when I wake up with blood sugar levels at 150?
  • Where should my blood sugar levels typically be throughout the day?

I know I should consult with my doctor, and I will, but I'd still like to read others experiences. Im feeling alone in this seeing as no one close to me has it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
