I visited my doctor yesterday after getting blood work done to see how my body metabolizes glucose. My doctor told me I have diabetes (she didn’t specify which type), and showed me numbers on a chart indicating that my score was high. I was extremely confused and tried asking questions while processing the terrible news, and she told me she will write me a referral to an endocrinologist, so I can ask those type of questions.
-I found an in-network endocrinologist that I’ll be seeing early July.
-I started a lifestyle change consisting of exercise and healthy eating (low sugar, low sodium, whole foods, healthy processed foods—I do occasionally have whole wheat bread, brown rice, and brown rice pasta)
-I am now taking metformin
Until I see an endocrinologist, what else should I be doing?
My doctor told me that with a strict lifestyle change, I’ll be able to reverse my diabetes and no longer live with it.
Also, should I call my doctor asking for certain statistics from my blood work? I scrolled through this sub and everyone has these stats and graphs based off there blood sugar; I’m just very confused.
