Anybody here test their drinks for sugar with Diastix? Does it reflect how much sugar is in your drink?

I have been conducting experiments to verify the efficacy of my urine strips. I am not diabetic, but it had me curious. So I tried it on sweet drinks, but for some reason, it does detect sugar, but the sweeter drinks don't end up on the darker shades of the scale.
