Hey guys! As I work from home I sometimes put on a show in the background. Today I threw on the Babysitters Club. I used to read these books as a child. I remember getting them at a used book store.
Episode 3 came on and it turns out one of the main characters has Type 1. I forgot all about this part. I read the books before I was diagnosed with Diabetes so it did not stand out to me as much as a kid. There was a scene where the girl (around 12) was in a dressing room with her mom. She was buying clothes to try to cover up her pump. She is new to the town and I guess moved their with her family after a diabetes low episode in Manhattan. She passed out and started shaking on the ground at school. She got bullied and it got so bad her parents moved her away. In this new town, she is afraid to tell anyone she has Diabetes. She has a Medtronic pump. She hides it, her diabetes and her mom seems to try to hide it too.
By the end of the episode, her friends find out. She confronts them and is afraid they will reject her. These girls were really nice. By the end of the episode she changed her whole attitude and is now proudly wearing her pump with a blue case :)
