Hi there, I don't have diabetes, but my glucose and insulin was very high in my last blood tests, so the doctor prescribed me metformin 1000. I started taking it yesterday and I read the pamphlet and was surprised to see it said it interacted negatively with alcohol. I feel that's definitely something my doctor should have mentioned. I'm going to see her in a couple of weeks again and I'll definitely talk to her about it, but my mom's birthday is on Wednesday and I was wondering if it would be okay if I had a glass of wine with dinner. I'm not diabetic, I only have insulin resistance. The drug was prescribed for me to take over several months, not permanently.
