Learning how my insulin works

After having a Dexcom 6 for 3 months I've learned something very interesting about my insulin resistance.

If I am at 160 or above, take a shot for the amount of carbs, then eat, my reading climbs to 200 or so and may take 2 to 3 hours to fall. Sometimes having to add more insulin to get it to come down.

However, if I start at 110 or lower, the sugar bump will only be to 140 or so and only last about an hour.

If I take a shot and wait till I fall under 110 to eat, the same thing happens. Small and short sugar bump.

This happens even if I eat a sugary piece of pie.

What level I am at seems to be more important than what I eat. My insulin resistance is lower when my sugar level is lower.
