Hoping for a bit of insight. I'm posting this for my husband (32, very fit and active), who is type 1, but has been living a lie as type 2 for over a year. He was taking glipizide and metformin, but it was like he wasn't taking any medication at all. His glucose was consistently 300s all the time. Finally, he sees an endocrinologist and gets an antibody test. Now we know its actually been type one all along. So he's on insulin now. Novolog (fast) and a long acting one (can't remember the name). We're only on day 2. He does injections right before meals (like 8 or 10 units). And then the long acting one at bedtime. He dosed according to instructions today, but his glucose check at bedtime was still 400. Does it take a while to make a difference? I thought it was supposed to be more sudden. He isn't taking the metformin or glipizide anymore per dr instructions. Obviously he's going to call the dr Monday, but just curious if others have similar experience when diagnosed as an adult.
