Possible nerve damage in my feet?

I've had type 1 diabetes for 7 years, and lately over the course of the past year or so i've had trouble falling asleep because whenever I try my feet feel abnormally hot, even during winter (it gets quite cold here) the rest of my body will be at a normal temperature in bed but as I said my feet will be super hot lol

Strangely enough this only happens while i'm trying to fall asleep, my feet will always feel completely normal during the day. I know that nerve damage (especially in the feet) is common for type 1 diabetics so I was wondering if this could be caused by diabetes or if it's something else. (google isn't terribly helpful lol)
