3 months down

I was diagnosed in January as a type 2 diabetic with an hba1c reading of 9.4. I was told to see a dietician and she told me to eat 45g-60g carbs per meal. I tried her diet twice and both times my blood sugar skyrocketed to above 270. After that I started eating low carb and then found this sub and learned about the ketogenic diet. So, 6 weeks ago I started weightlifting again and following a lazy Keto diet (carbs under 20g a day).

Met with the doctor yesterday for my 3 month follow up and expected to get yelled at for not going back to the dietician and for following a Keto diet. My hba1c had dropped to 5.9 and to my surprise, the doc told me to keep doing whatever I was doing. She was super happy and told me that she'd never seen anyone drop their hba1c reading that fast.

So thank you to everyone in this sub for introducing me to the Keto diet and for being an inspiration. Knowing that some of you have been fighting this battle for decades has given me hope. It is a struggle and can be depressing, but we can have victories.
