My son is 4, and he's a type 1 diabetic. He uses insulin pens that have the little screw on needles.
Today at pre-school, his regular teacher is gone, but the assistant was there. She was giving him one of his shots and accidentally poked herself while putting the cap back on.
Then, while the kids were getting their shoes off and boots on to go outside, she dropped the bag of stuff and one of the needle tips fell out and came open (somehow, seems unlikely but w/e), and a kid stepped on it with their bare foot.
So now 2 people got poked, one by a freshly used needle, and one by what could be new or could be used needle. Probably new though, because the old ones are supposed to go in the sharps container they have.
Anyway, my kid doesn't have any blood-borne pathogens or anything, but still, what the heck? Be careful people
Imagine how the parent of the other kid is gonna react when the teacher tells them what happened. I just feel bad about the whole thing. It's not my fault, and it's certainly not my son's fault, but I can't help but feel bad for when the kid's parents inevitably find out their kid got poked. This is so stressful.
