Any type one hikers here?

Hey everyone!

I’m coming up on my 18th year of being diabetic, so I understand how to keep it all under control in my day-to-day circumstances. However, I have recently started hiking longer distances (6-8 miles, 11 for the first time the other day!) and backpacking overnight.

I absolutely love it but am truly struggling with managing on the longer days. I know a lot of it is trial and error but even with the ControlIQ on my TSlimX2 and my Dexcom, I will spend half the trip fighting lows...unplug the pump and power through for a few hours where I feel good...only to fight extreme highs for the end of the trip.

I just want to hike and climb without feeling overly full from fixing lows, slowed down and discouraged, or like I’m powering through quicksand when my sugar is high!

I know trial and error will help but thought I’d reach out for some advice, in case I’m missing something.

Thanks :)
