I was diagnosed T2 just after Thanksgiving this year. I don't think the hospital took an A1C (emergency room, they said they only care about if I was in DKA, not long-term stuff), but I saw the endo at the end of December and it was 8.1 there.
I had my next appointment with the endo today. I've been pretty good about taking my meds and counting carbs -- not perfect, and I'm slipping a little on measuring things, but definitely pretty good -- and I was hoping for a good score.
It was 5.0. It was normal. And she looked at my past month of blood sugar readings, and said, "Those are normal too. Those are non-diabetic readings." Hooray, I am successfully managing this disease.
