What are some filling foods I can eat while keeping my blood sugar levels in control?

I'm completely new to this and was diagnosed with prediabetes last week. I got a meter to test my numbers but I ran out of time before my GP could talk to me about suggested diet changes, she mainly told me to eat more salads and to lose weight. I'm struggling to find low carb things to eat while also staying full throughout the day. Any suggestions would be very helpful. I also have anemia, if that will change your suggestions at all.
