Nicotine, vaping, and insulin resistance?

I’ve never smoked cigarettes or tobacco, but I have tried vaping like it. The only thing is that I’ve read in some places that nicotine can increase insulin resistance. The only problem is that most of the studies that this is based on are with actual cigarettes. I know vaping isn’t fantastic for you, but it’s usually lower in nicotine than cigarettes, as I understand it.

At this point, I’m not too attached to it, so if it does in fact contribute to insulin resistance, I’d rather give it up now before I potentially do make it a regular thing that would be harder to give up.

I’ve read in some places that vaping does negatively impact the body’s ability to utilize insulin, and some places saying that vaping isn’t a significant effect and fine in moderation.

This in particular I’d like to hear from Type 2 people, since that is what I’m closest too. My insulin resistance stems from PCOS, hormone related, rather than something I had from birth. From what I read online, type 1 vapers didn’t have issues with the nicotine, while type 2s seems split between it being fine and it increasing their insulin resistance. Right now I mostly use a JUUL, if that makes a difference

Also as a p.s. I haven’t been technically diagnosed with type 2, but had my first prediabetic a1c five years ago. The only reason I haven’t been diagnosed yet is bc I’m on glucophage and have been HELLA strict with my diet for years since then. So even though my levels don’t show up as diabetic, I’m still pretty much on the closest borderline, and have pretty high spikes if I ever eat the wrong thing, don’t exercise, or forget my meds. So technically I’m not a diagnosed diabetic, but I’m nearly capable of having those numbers, and trying to hold off on that for as long as I can. I’m only 23, so I just want to prevent it as long as I can. It does concern me that it may develop anyway, since I’m so close, but I just have to keep trying, even if it seems like I might as well give up.

Thanks guys!
