Can you tell me how exactly does one get diabetes? I am having a problem that just started two weeks ago.

I do not know if this may be a bit of a bad question here. But I have a huge problem that's been affecting my everyday life right now. I am consuming large amounts of sugar. I am young and want to learn but I have never been told that sugars is the main culprit of diabetes? And if it is, why are we not being told this? I'm honestly very confused as I have just learned about diabetes and the impact it has on people's lives and now I'm scared. I cannot go one day without having something loaded with sugar or else I feel like I'm going to faint or fall asleep and I feel achy with stomach cramps and a huge headache unless I eat or drink something with tons of sugar.

Is this a symptom or something different. Let me know if I need to take this question else where? I just am a bit scared that this is happening to me all of a sudden and when I type this in google it shows it could be diabetes. But I don't know where to start or what to do? I know I must quit sugar but I get so ill it feels like I'm dying. So if it's not diabetes what is it? I currently am finding a Dr to schedule an appointment with. It won't be till two months from now because getting different health insurance. Thank you so much for helping me out. It really does mean a lot and would make me feel sane again knowing I have nothing to worry about if I do not have it. Or that I have nothing to worry about if I happen to have it. I just really would like to be educated thank you again.
