I'm PhD student studying statistics/machine learning/data science and also a type-one diabetic. I recently switched endocrinologists after moving across the US for my PhD. When we first met, he said something to the effect of "you should be pretty good at this because of your studies and interest in data." I took his comment to heart and have since become a lot more interested in diabetes and taking care of myself, thanks to places like this subreddit.
I'm now starting to look at possible internships/future employers, and I think it would be great to use my skills to help myself and other diabetics. I was wondering if you all could help me find some companies that are at are using machine learning to help people with diabetes.
So far, I have come across:
- Tidepool (employs a few data scientists according to LinkedIn)
- Bigfoot Biomedical (currently hiring a data scientist)
- DreaMed Diabetes(employees a data scientist, according to LinkedIn)
- Glooko (hiring data engineers and employs a data scientist, according to LinkedIn)
- Medtronic (currently hiring multiple data scientists)
- Dexcom (currently hiring a senior data scientist)
- Beta Bionics (uses "Machine Learning" in their marketing)
