Is it common practice for endocrinologists to make their patients visit a dietician every so often? I've only ever had two endocrinologists, but they both have a policy that you must visit their in-office dietician every so often. I hate this. Not only do I have to schedule more time off from work to see her and then pay a separate co-pay, but I never feel like I get anything from it. My A1C has stayed between 5.4 and 5.6 for the last two years. I know how to carb count and portion control. I get how the "sugar train" works. It is just so frustrating! It seems like a cash grab, but I'm in a smaller market and I don't have many choices when it comes to endocrinologists. Any suggestions or similar situations? Ideas on how to make the appointments more productive? Thanks!
