I just need to vent for a second. [type 1]

I want to be clear, I am so grateful to have health care right now- and I know that not every doctor is going to be amazing, that's life. BUT I NEED TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST.

I have had type 1 diabetes for 21 years- I don't need the definition of HBA1C explained to me. I don't need a dietician to tell me that white bread and starchy carbohydrates are not ideal for my diet. That's not new information. It's condescending, and I know that they don't mean for it to be- but what would mean much more is if they reflected for just a minute on the actual person they're speaking to - rather than addressing me as a blank canvas upon which to paint facts. I am well aware that overcorrecting for a low blood sugar is not a good idea- but I sincerely wonder if these people have ever woken up in the middle of the night feeling like they will pass out and never wake up again if they don't eat more than precisely 15 grams of carbohydrates.

I'm sorry to complain, but I needed someone to understand me. Thanks for being a great community.
