First week...

Soo... I went back to my doctor today for "diabetes counseling" and showed him the charts I made of my BG levels when I did an experiment on Wednesday to see what my sugars were doing. There is a HIGH spike and then it drops down afterwards. I showed him my data, my charts - including one with DM and more charting. Yes, I am diabetic, he said just by looking at that, but not necessarily a type 2. He agrees I could be a 1.5. As in a very high probability.

The pinkie line that looks like it was drawn in crayon? That's what my BG did after eating a Timmy's Chocolate Chill - medium sized! He discussed how many of those I drink, and I told him, honestly, sometimes I do when I have early shifts, but it can take me hours to drink one. That one there? I drank in ten minutes, so the BG values might be a little off compared to a proper GTT.

He agreed with me to run a proper GTT to see what my sugars are doing. I plan on doing pricks at the same time with my glucometre so I can get my own numbers. He and I both agree that my pancreas is still making insulin, but that it's sluggish or slow to react to sugar, but it does react. So, GTT on Saturday, and a bunch of other stuff too. oi vey. Blood tests galore to figure out what I have specifically so that I can be on a treatment plan that isn't "cut out pop and juice."

My doctor and I had a dietary discussion, and it's gotten to the point where I can't balance allergices/ibs/kidney/diabetes diets. I have to account for all four, and for what my kids will want to eat as well. So, he's going to start me on metforin(sp) after I have the GTT. Just half tabs for the first two months and see what happens then.

I'm still doing diet modifications.

tl:dr; saw doc. showed stuff. more tests. might be T1.5.
