Getting off my employee insurance, any advice on what to look for with private insurance

I have type 1. Been using a pump (medtronic). Just used vacation overrides to stock up on supplies before my insurance runs out at the end of month. Any other diabetics out there on private insurance using a pump that could give me an idea of what to ask for (high monthly low deductable/hmo or ppo/ect). Any advice is appreciated .
