I was diagnosed with Type 2 at the beginning of April with an A1C of 10.9.
I'm on 1,000mg of Metformin a day.
I eat ~ 30g of carbs per meal with a minimum of 10g of protein to balance it.
I have pretty much eliminated heavily processed foods from my diets. Most of my carbs come from veggies. It's strict but it feels manageable to me. I can occasionally indulge in a treat (measured popcorn at the movies balanced with a protein source) without a spike.
I've lost about 15 lbs since the diagnosis and am getting 30-60 minutes of activity most days (aiming to make that all days).
My next A1C check is in a little over a month.
I am working with a registered dietician.
Right now my range is around 93-115 fasting, and around 115-130 an hour and forty-five to two hours after eating. Since getting to this range I've had a couple spikes higher, but not over 140.
What else can I be doing at this point? I've steadily seen things get better since I was diagnosed and I can't say I'm displeased with my progress to date, but I really want to tackle this beast with everything I can.
Am I missing anything I should be doing right now, or should I just continue on losing weight and see if that will help bring me down a little lower?
Any thoughts are appreciated!
