Can someone tell me a bit about the Tandem T-slim.

My A1c has been very high (10+)for a number of years . I feel like shitty pretty much every day of my life, and I have finally after at least 5 years decided to try to be better at diabetes, and other things in life. I started by setting up an FSA through work to put money aside to get a CGM. Upon doing that I was looking in to getting a new pump as well. Turns out that my current pump is finally out of warranty and that I’m eligible for a new one. My endocronologist is really pushing me to get a Tandem T slim and says that it’s the far better then whatever Medtronic’s newest pump is. After looking into a t-slim I found that my insurance company (UHC) only covers Medtronic pumps. I am willing to buy a t slim even though it’s not covered but I want to know if it’s really worth it compared to getting a new Medtronic.

I have a Dexcom CGM which I’m seeing is compatible with the t-slim pump. My doctor told me with both of them that it will auto correct for me (like stop insulin delivery or give me insulin when too low or high)

I guess I’m just trying to find out more details about that last sentence. Can I set it to go me insulin every time my BG goes over 250? Or does it only give me insulin if I’m over like 400? Does it basically work like an artificial pancreas?

Just try to convince me to get or not get a t slim, due to its ability to connect to my Dexcom G6
