Hey diabuddies,
I am just about at my wits end with Dexcom lately. When it works, it works so good. When it doesn't, which has been more and more lately, it's enough to drive you crazy.
I am about on the phone, almost weekly, with Dexcom after a G6 sensor doesn't live up to it's 10 days. A little about my sensor and I... I nearly always wear it on my stomach as I have the best luck here (thinner guy). I rarely ever have any adhesive issues or concerns. When I am ready to take the sensor off, it is hardly ever starting to peel off. And I should add that I do not wear any "patch", Tagaderm, Skin-Tac, or anything with it as it has seemed unnecessary in my instances.
However, I can nearly set my calendar by when my Dexcom starts to "go wonky." I use both the Dexcom app on my iPhone as well as the Sugarmate app. I like the Sugarmate app because it shows you the actual data points and doesn't "blend" them using smoothing techniques like Dexcom does. And nearly every sensor, by day 6 or 7, the data goes from being very continual (the dots connect forming a straight line, regardless of blood sugar direction) to ping ponging around from dot to dot. I'll have one 5 min dot give a reading, another 20 pts higher, then the next 20 points lower. When this happens, I typically lose the arrow indicator on Dexcom because it's algorithm's can't tell which direction my sugar is going.
Has anyone else had this same 6-7 day experience? Has anything helped avoid this? I have thought about using the sticky patches they talk about thinking maybe this would help, but I can't see how it will help seeing as the adhesive seems to be working perfectly fine.
I am going to give the Eversense implantable CGM a little time to work out it's kinks and may be jumping ship to that device in years to come.
